Our Mission (and how to work this website)

Hello, my name is Aaron, and I started Expressive Apparel with the hopes of making gender affirming gear more accessible for genderqueer people. If you've ever tried to buy a binder, or tucking gear, you know the struggle, between finding something you can afford, to finding something that won't cause rashes, tear your skin, or cause more pain.At Expressive Apparel, we hope to make custom made, comfortable, sensory friendly binders/tucking underwear.

Enter the Raffle

You might be asking "I was told I could get a free garment". And you can! If you can't afford (or can't ask for money due to being a closeted youth) a binder/tucking underwear, keep reading. The way this works is, you enter a raffle by doing a service to the community/volunteer work. One hour = One raffle ticket. Once a week, a winner is picked. That winner will then be contacted, and asked to provide measurements, their favorite color, and some vibes they'd like the garment to have. The garment will be made, and sent off. Completely free of charge.TL;DR (too long didn't read) -Step 1 - Do at least one hour of volunteer work and be able to provide proof (we operate on an honor system but if it seems suspicious we will check)Step 2 - Enter your details into the raffle form (be sure to check your email is correct, as that is how we contact the winner)Step 3 - Wait and see if you are picked!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

If you cannot find an answer to your question, our contact information is at the bottom.

Visual/Sensory QuestionsCan I pick my own fabric? -
No. Unfortunately the best we can do is to have you give the vibes and colors you want the garment to have, and we'll do our best to make a fun, comfortable garment.
Are your binders sensory friendly? -
Yes! In fact, all the seams that would directly touch your skin are completely sewn in, so you won't be bothered!
What base fabric do you use? -
We use a soft, colorful fabric that feels a bit like a swimsuit if you need a comparison! The base, unless otherwise specified, will always match with the top fabric.
Logistical QuestionsCan a plus-size person wear one of your garments? -
Of course! Even if you are buying a garment, we will not charge extra for anyone of any body-type.
Can your binders be made accessible? -
Yes! If buying/winning the raffle, please let us know what kind of modifications you need (ex. zipper down front).
How do your binders...bind? -
Our binders bind by incorporating multiple layers of stretch fabric, thicker on the front (where the binding happens) and thinner on the back.
How do I measure myself?
Here are the measurements we need to make a binder -
- Chest circumference
- Under-chest circumference
- Length (from top of shoulder to desired bottom edge placement)
- If more than 14" long, waist/hips circumference
Optional
- Neck depth
- Strap width
